Join Scenic for a once-in-a-decade performance in Oberammergau

Tuesday 11th April 2017

Scenic is now accepting pre-registrations for Passion Play 2020 – Oberammergau. In 2020 the community of Oberammergau in Bavaria, Germany, will perform the Passion Play for the 42nd time. Scenic is inviting you to be part of this unforgettable experience which only occurs once every 10 years.

In 1633, the residents of Oberammergau vowed that if they were spared from the bubonic plague sweeping the region, they would produce a play for all time depicting the life and death of Jesus. When the death rate began to subside, the villagers decided they had been spared. The first play was performed in 1634, and it has run ever since ¬– for 380 years. It’s the world’s longest-running play and widely regarded as the most important Passion Play in the world.

In 2020, Scenic will be running five departures from 20 May to 9 September: Alpine Highlights and Oberammergau from Vienna to Zurich, and Bavarian Highlights and Oberammergau from Munich to Vienna and each will also link to either:
• Jewels of Europe (15 day cruise)
• Romantic Rhine and Moselle (15 day cruise)
• Rhine Highlights (8 day cruise)
• Gems of the Danube (8 day cruise)
Scenic is inviting guests to register early for this exclusive experience. Liz Glover, Acting General Manager, Sales and Marketing, said: “This is a once-in-a-decade and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness one of the world’s most famous plays and explore the wonders of Bavaria. Scenic went 10 years ago and we’re thrilled to do it all over again.”

Standard pre-registration procedures will apply with a deposit of $250pp.
