Princess Cruises, the top cruise line in Japan, has revealed that Japanese-built Diamond Princess will cruise to more destinations than ever before during her 2019 Japan cruise season, her 6th season cruising the region. Sailing roundtrip from Tokyo (Yokohama) and Kobe, Diamond Princess will visit a record-breaking 41 destinations across seven countries, making maiden port calls to Gamagori, Himeji, Matsuyama, Niigata, Miyako and Takamatsu.
“Japan is a country rich in history, culture and cuisine so it’s not surprising that it’s a destination that is on the top of many Australian’s wish-lists,” said Vice President Princess Cruises Australia and New Zealand, Stuart Allison.
“Australian demand for Japan is booming, the fastest growing destination over the past 5 years with 175% growth in visits since 2011 according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, reaching a record high over the past 12 months. With itineraries ranging from 8 to 32 nights, our 2019 Japan program presents a variety of ways for guests to experience the abundance of natural beauty, local entertainment, and historical sites that the land of the rising sun has to offer.”
The March-November 2019 season, on sale now, will feature 60 departures on 40 unique itineraries. Highlights include:
- Access to 11 UNESCO World Heritage sites and nine late night port calls.
- Nine departures during the popular Spring Flowers season, visiting many top cherry blossom and spring flowers sites throughout all of Japan.
- Seven departures providing access to some of the most popular summer festivals in Japan including the Aomori Nebuta Festival, Kochi Yosakoi Dance Festival and Akita Kanto Festival.
