Shokalskiy freed from ice

New Zealand’s Heritage Expeditions is expected to proceed with next week’s Ross Sea voyage on the Akademik Shokalskiy, which has spent the past fortnight stuck in Antarctica. The Russian icebreaker, along with China’s Xue Long, has reportedly broken free of pack ice and no longer requires the assistance of the Australian-led rescue mission.
