WILD EARTH TRAVEL IS OFFERING A NEW PACKAGE
allowing guests to explore the rarely visited
Bijagos Archipelago off the coast of Guinea-
Bissau in West Africa.
The 11-day expedition takes place aboard
the 34-passenger MS Callisto with highlights
including amazing wildlife viewing such as
the rare saltwater hippopotami found only on
Orango Island, as well as the red colobus
monkeys of the Gambia.
The islands of the archipelago are
inhabited by a unique tribe which still
practices an animist religion in a matriarchal
society guided by female priests.
It’s a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve
and other elements of the trip include sailing
on Senegal’s Saloum River as well as visiting
Joao Vieira, a marine turtle breeding ground.
The MS Callisto has 17 luxurious cabins
featuring satellite TV, internet access,
phones, marble bathrooms, two sundecks
and a Jacuzzi.
There are five departures between January
