PACIFIC PEARL’S EMBARRASING WEIGHT GAIN!
Just when you thought cruise ships
couldn’t get any bigger, a shocking
announcement was made on Channel
7’s ‘Sunrise’ program last week.
During its televised link to the Pacific
Pearl in Sydney, with its first female
captain at the helm, the reporter
revealed that the ship had 18,000
passengers onboard!
That’s ten times more than any other
P&O Australia ship, and it even blows
Oasis and Allure of the Seas out of the
water – they only carry 5,600 each.
Of course, the figure was wrong – Pearl
takes around 1,800 passengers.
But the reporter somehow added a zero
and stuffed it up, live on air, twice!
Cruisers can rest assured that they
won’t have to fight for a deck chair, the
buffet queue will not be a mile long, and
they are highly unlikely to find four other
families sharing their cabin.
CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES IS SET FOR A FLEETWIDE
rollout of a special beer, after it proved
highly popular when it debuted on the
new Carnival Magic in May.
ThirstyFrog Red is the cruise line’s
private label brew, and so many people
on Magic loved it that it’s now already
been delivered to 15 other Carnival ships.
It is served in the RedFrog Pub aboard
Carnival Magic – CCL’s first ever pub –
and during the ship’s inaugural voyage it
ran dry, requiring an emergency delivery
of more kegs to slake the dry throats of
thirsty cruisers.
It’s not clear whether ThirstyFrog Red
will be available alongside VB, Tooheys
and Carlton Draught on the “Aussiefied”
Carnival Spirit when she arrives down
under next year.
ThirstyFrog is believed to be one of only
two custom-brewed beverages afloat,
with the other being the intriguingly
named 687 Red Lager offered on board
Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Dream which
launched last January.
The Disney tipple is served in the 687
Sports Bar, with both the beer and the
bar named after the Dream’s shipyard
“block number” before she was named.
