UPRIGHTING of the stricken Costa Concordia
vessel off the coast of Giglio, Italy continues,
however the salvage crew responsible have
said it is now likely to be next year before the
ship is refloated and towed away.
The commissioner of the operation, Franco
Gabrielli, says he needs more information
from the salvage team as to what extent rocks
have penetrated the side of the ship, and the
real condition of the ship’s hull rather than
continued simulations and hypotheses.
