A second ship, mv Moana, is set
to offer cruises in the
Mediterranean, Caribbean and
Latin America.
THE operator of the highest-rated and
longest continually sailing luxury ship in the
South Pacific, the m/s Paul Gauguin, has
announced plans to extend beyond the region
with a ship acquired from French line
Compagnie du Ponant.
Paul Gauguin Cruises will transform the
luxurious 45-cabin Le Levant into Moana after
a “multifaceted renovation”.
Last month the company announced its
Tahiti-based, 332-passenger Paul Gauguin
would undergo a $7 million revamp.
The first cruise onboard Moana is scheduled
for December 2012, with the European
summer to be spent in the Mediterranean,
and winter in the Caribbean and Latin America.
In a statement, the company said the
emphasis would be on “delivering unique
destinations that larger ships cannot offer and
exploring hidden ports throughout these
regions”.
Diane Moore, president of Paul Gauguin
Cruises, commented: “We are monumentally
proud to add a second ship to our Pacific
Beachcomber portfolio and Paul Gauguin
Cruises family.
“I look forward to welcoming fans of The
Gauguin onboard our latest addition.”
Itineraries are expected to be released in
early 2012 – see www.wiltrans.com.au.
