Their uniforms did little to protect them when it came time for passengers to dump buckets of icy water over Pacific Pearl’s senior crew members in P&O Cruises first Ice Bucket Challenge at sea.
With passengers bidding big bucks to be the one to throw the bucket, not even Captain Tony Herriott could escape the challenge.

Somewhere on the high seas between Papua New Guinea and Sydney, Captain Herriott, along with Hotel Director Roland Ringwald, Chief Engineer Gaetano Festa, Executive Chef Patrice Mick, Cruise Director Gemma Gregory-Jones and People and Performance Manager Simon Belmar Clark, were showered with buckets of icy water as part of the global social media phenomenon.
As well as the satisfaction of putting some of their favourite crew on ice, passengers raised more than $500 for motor neurone disease.
Since the original challenge went viral in the US, the Ice Bucket Challenge has raised more than $2 million globally for motor neurone disease research.
