Carnival Corporation will welcome passengers to its newly developed Amber Cove cruise port in the Dominican Republic for the first time from Oct.
The firm has spent US$85 million in the port, the largest cruise industry investment ever made in the Dominican Republic.
Six Carnival brands will tie-up at Amber Cove this season.
The port offers space for two ships to berth at once, with Carnival forecasting 250,000 pax to visit in its first year on ships such as Carnival Victory, Queen Mary 2, Azure and MS Eurodam.
Carnival will develop Amber Cove as a key destination to star in expanded itineraries in the Caribbean, the port well-placed to act as a stop on future cruises with potential port stops in Cuba.
The company will also develop a comprehensive shore excursion program for pax at Amber Cove.
