Queen Mary 2 arrived in Australia’s Gateway Port of Darwin this morning on her way to Sydney to celebrate Cunard’s 175 year anniversary. The city of Darwin is pulling out all the stops – Queen Mary 2 is the second of 6 ships visiting this week so the town has put on Cruise Week. Retailers are offering deals for cruise visitors; there are pop-up markets down at the Waterfront; free Wi-Fi in the mall; and a range of music events happening throughout the week to add atmosphere and ensure cruise visitors get to meet some locals. Naturally, shore excursions to Litchfield National Park, the Bombing of Darwin experience and the jumping crocs have also proved popular with over 600 QM2 passengers on pre-arranged tours.
The next ships to visit Darwin this week are: L’Austral (Wed), Celebrity Solstice (Th), Radiance of the Seas (Fr) and Seabourn Odyssey (Fr). Around 11000 passengers are expected this week.
