How long have
you been
working on
cruise ships?
Eleven years.
When did you
join Orion
Expedition
Cruises?
I joined the company in March 2007 and
became Captain of Orion in December 2010.
What is the best thing about working for
Orion Expedition Cruises?
There are so many nice things that it’s
diff icult to say which the best is. I would say
the crew, the atmosphere onboard, the
interaction with guests especially on a small
ship like Orion, the destinations and the ship.
What is your favorite cruising destination?
Great Barrier Reef and Antarctica.
Briefly explain what your job entails and
what passengers can expect from your
services on board.
Orion’s way of cruising and doing expedition is
unique. Small vessel, nice atmosphere, high
class facilities and food onboard, amazing
destinations- most of them out of the
classical cruising area. My job onboard is to
make sure that with the assistance of all the
departments’ heads, our ship and crew
fulfil our guest’s expectations.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Maneuvering and cruising around Australia
with this expedit ion vessel.
Who is the most famous person you have
served?
I met Patrick Swayze and Elton John.
What is the most interesting request you’ve
received from a passenger?
Snow skiing in Antarctica. The guest
brought his snow skis onboard Orion, made
two slopes in Cape Denison and gave the
skis to the crew.
How do you spend your holidays when you
return home?
Lot of time with my wife and small son
Clement. Sports, and especially waterskiing
in the summer season. Vintage cars,
motorbikes and piano.
