SYDNEY-siders turned up en-masse to take place in the first ever slip and slide time trials on Dee Why Beach this month. Hosted by Carnival Cruise Lines, the event was designed to help Aussies prepare for “the real thing” when Carnival Spirit’s Green Thunder waterslide heads down under in October. During the 04 February event, Carnival’s world-record breaking 30-metre slip and slide was unfurled, allowing locals the chance to test their slide speed against the elite guys and girls from the Ocean Thunder surfboat series. Prizes up for grabs for the fastest slip and sliders included a spot on Spirit’s Sailaway Celebration cruise which was won by Toby Allnutt, one of the Ocean Thunder Young Guns from the Bulli surfboat team. For his efforts Toby and his family will get the chance to test out Spirit’s steepest and fastest waterslide at sea, Green Thunder. Toby is pictured below with Carnival Cruise Lines’ Marketing Manager, Tracy Bromfield.
