Yet another ship will call
Sydney home in 2012 – and
this one is the biggest ever!
ANYONE WORRIED ABOUT BEING BORED ON A
cruise may change their mind with next
year’s arrival of Voyager of the Seas.
Royal Caribbean has decided to send
Sydney its first megaliner, which is twice the
size of most cruise ships currently based in
the region, with capacity for 3,840
passengers.
Voyager will introduce concepts that have
never been seen on a local ship, such as iceskating
shows and inside cabins overlooking
an ‘indoor street’ lined with cafés and shops.
It will also house the largest restaurant in
Australasia – a three-storey 1,920-seat
dining room – and an American diner,
Johnny Rockets, which features on the
world’s biggest cruise ships, Allure and Oasis
of the Seas.
Other highlights include 13 bars, onboard
street parades, a rock-climbing wall, inlineskating
track, minigolf course, golf
simulator, sports court, three swimming
pools and six hot tubs.
Children’s facilities include a huge kids
club with a water park, video arcade and a
teens-only disco.
Voyager of the Seas will be based in
Sydney for five months from November
2012 after its inaugural season in China
between June and October.
The local
season
comprises 12
Australia, New
Zealand and
South Pacific
itineraries
(ranging from
one night to
18 nights),
departing from Sydney and Fremantle.
Cruises are due to open for sale in early
July 2011.
