Wind-up of parent company Genting Hong Kong forces “extremely difficult decision”.
Crystal Cruises has confirmed it will suspend operations to “evaluate the current state of business and examine various options going forward,” following confirmation that Genting Hong Kong is filing for provisional liquidation (Cruise Weekly yesterday).
Crystal President, Jack Anderson, said at this stage ocean and expedition voyages would be paused until late April, while river ship departures have been cancelled until the end of May.
“This was an extremely difficult decision but a prudent one, given the current business environment and recent developments with our parent company, Genting Hong Kong,” he said.
Crystal Symphony, Crystal Serenity and Crystal Endeavor are all currently sailing, but will now return to port and disembark their passengers. The line’s European river vessels are not currently sailing because it’s the off-season.
“Crystal has been synonymous with luxury cruising for more than 30 years, and we look forward to welcoming back our valued guests when we resume operations,” Anderson said, adding “we wish to thank our guests and travel advisors for their incredible support during these ongoing challenging times”.
