IT seems that steamboating is enjoying a
resurgence in popularity since its heyday in the
19th century, with the American Queen
Steamboat Company reporting record-setting
monthly bookings for July, coinciding with the
announcement of its full 2013 program.
The company also experienced its best ever
sales week in the second week of August,
nearly doubling its previous weekly booking
volume benchmark.
“There has been tremendous word-of-mouth
support from agents and guests alike as they
clamor for remaining space in 2012 and for the
newly announced 2013 season,” said American
Queen Steamboat Company CEO Jeffrey Krida.
“We are building a new audience of loyal
steamboaters, most of whom are seasoned
travelers that have traveled with luxury oceangoing
and European river brands, and now
can’t get enough of the American Queen
experience.
“Many who have booked for this fall and
winter had already traveled aboard the
American Queen since her launch this past
April and are back again,” he added.
Meanwhile, it seems that the company is
ensuring its new and returning steamboaters
stay loyal, with the cruise line currently
sporting average guest satisfaction ratings of
96%.
