Rhapsody of the Seas will
undergo extensive upgrades
towards the end of next
season.
AUSTRALIANS WILL BE AMONG THE FIRST TO SEE
the new features of Rhapsody of the Seas in
its sixth season down under.
The ship is scheduled for an extended
four-week dry dock in March 2012 in
Singapore which will see it refitted with new
amenities – including special touches from
the ground-breaking Oasis and Allure of the
Seas.
All existing cabins and suites will be
refreshed and new specialty dining venues
and additional cabins will be added.
According to Gavin Smith, managing
director, Royal Caribbean Cruises Australia,
the latest move proves how much the
company values Australia and New Zealand

as a vital cruising market.
“We’re fully committed to ‘raising the bar’
by heavily investing in our growing
Australasian fleet and delivering a superior
product to the local market,” he said.
“Rhapsody of the Seas is already a
tremendously popular ship and now we will
invest in making her even better.”
As a resulted of the 28-day dry dock, four
cruises from Sydney were cancelled,
however these have been replaced with two
one-way cruises to/from Singapore: a 14-
night cruise from Sydney departing 16
February 2012 and a 15-night cruise
departing Singapore on 29 March, with
fares from $1385pp.
More details about the enhancements
planned for Rhapsody will be announced
later this year.
Royal Caribbean’s Radiance of the Seas
and Celebrity Millennium are also being refit
in 2011 or 2012, in time for the summer
2012-13 season with Voyager of the Seas
and Celebrity Solstice.
Rhapsody is slated as the first of three
Royal Caribbean ships to undergo
enhancements next year in a commitment to
provide passengers with the industry’s most
innovative cruise ships.
Other ships scheduled for revitalisations in
2012 are Grandeur of the Seas in May 2012
and Serenade of the Seas in November
2012.
The company has also announced that in
the next three years, it will invest
approximately $300 million in revitalising its
entire 22-ship fleet, outfitting all with the
highest guest-rated programs and features introduced aboard Oasis and Allure.
