through Hurtigruten’s MS Nordlys, killing two
crew members and hospitalising a further four.

approached the Norwegian port of Ålesund,
all 207 guests were safely evacuated soon
after and transported to Ålesund.
Investigations are currently underway into
the cause of the tragedy, and so far the cruise
line has remained tight lipped on the details.
At present all the cruise line has said is that
it is focusing on organising repatriation travel
for all passengers.
“Our deepest condolences go out to all those
touched by this terrible incident,” said Country
Director of Discover the World Marketing
(Australian Hurtigruten representative), Birgit
Eisbrenner.
“Our thoughts are with the friends and
families of those lost to this devastating
accident, along with those who continue to
face the aftermath of the ordeal,” she added.
