It’s not too late to escape
winter by cruising in the Med,
Adriatic or Northern Europe.
ROYAL CARIBBEAN, CELEBRITY CRUISES AND
Azamara Club Cruises have confirmed
availability on a wide range of European
sailings between now and October 2011.
Gavin Smith, general manager, RCC
Australia, recently told Cruise Weekly that
the company’s three brands were proving
popular in the region because of the vast
number of departures from 11 home-ports.
“Unlike European cruise lines, whose
departures are mainly from their own
country, we don’t have that dependency, so
we can depart from anywhere,” Smith said.
Every week, for example, Royal Caribbean’s
Voyager for the Seas operates seven-night
Adriatic Coast cruises from Italy to Croatia
and Slovenia, priced from $679 per person –
less than $100 per day.
Longer options include Celebrity Eclipse’s
14-night cruise, which sails on 18 June 2011
roundtrip from Southampton, calling at
Bruges, Berlin, St Petersburg, Tallinn,
Stockholm and Copenhagen.
Fares start at $3205 per person, with other
dates available between May and August.
In the small-ship segment, Azamara Club
Cruises is expecting a greater contingent of
Australian passengers in Europe.
“Australia is becoming a stronger source
market for Azamara,” Smith said.
A seven-night Italian and French Riviera
voyage on Azamara Quest, from Rome to
Nice via St Tropez and Monte Carlo, is
priced from $2,085 per person including
extras such as complimentary coffee, soft
drinks and bottled water; wine with lunch
and dinner; and a self-service laundry.
