VIKING Grace has hit the world stage this
month, after her completion at STX Finland’s
Turku shipyard.
Billed as the world’s most environmentally
friendly large passenger ship, Grace, is the
newest ferry to join Viking Line, and offers
accommodations for 2,800 passengers and
1,000 cars.
The vessel’s impressive environmental cred
sees the ship fueled by Liquefied Natural Gas
(LNG), which reduces nitrogen and sulphur
emissions and other greenhouse gases.
The vessel also sports “safe return to port
compliance technology”, which involves
“advanced levels of control technology and risk
assessment not traditionally applied to cruise
ferries”.
A new frontier in environmentally sustainable cruising
In addition, Grace is already garnering a
name for herself in regards to the design and
layout of guest areas, with innovative
restaurants such as the Oscar à la carte
restaurant with its classic cuisine influenced by
Scandinavian specialities; the Seamore,
champagne and wine bar; Frank’s, a modern
drop in restaurant; Aurora, the pleasant buffet
restaurant; Sweet & and Salty, café with
snacks; Retro, relaxed bar and dance club; and
Rockmore Bar, a “rocking After Sea bar”.
