European Waterways, luxury hotel barging company, has launched its 2018/19 brochure featuring European cruises on the 17 luxury hotel barges in the fleet, including for the first time, the new, 12-passenger Spirit of Scotland on the Caledonian Canal.
Now expanded to 96-pages, the colourful, fully-illustrated brochure features cruises on the canals and waterways of nine European countries – in France, Italy, England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg – with an online version available to view at: www.europeanwaterways.com/view-online-brochure
“Our new brochure is even bigger and better this year,” says Derek Banks, European Waterways’ Managing Director. “An important new highlight is the ‘Insider Experiences’ pages detailing the authentic and immersive opportunities our guests can enjoy during their holiday. Each one is unique and personalised; whether the focus is on the local places or people, the gastronomy and wines, or the heritage and music.
“Our existing Scottish itineraries have proved so popular that Spirit of Scotland has joined sister barge Scottish Highlander, so we can now offer the choice of two hotel barges in this region, cruising the stunning scenery on the Caledonian Canal and the lochs of the Great Glen.
“We feel confident that our hotel barge cruise options are of appeal to solo travellers, couples, groups and families alike and of all ages – there’s something for everyone.”
The hotel barge cruising “difference” – varying from that of the more mainstream forms of cruising – provides a relaxed, private home atmosphere; access to waterways not possible for larger vessels; travelling shorter distances at a leisurely pace; and unique experiences such as the Arzviller Boat Elevator in Alsace; Eiffel’s aqueduct over the River Loire; and the Malpas Tunnel on the Canal du Midi.
Each 6-night cruise includes all gourmet meals, fine wines, an open bar, daily escorted excursions, local transfers to and from hotel barge and use of all onboard facilities, such as bicycles and spa pools.
2018 prices for a 6-night cruise, based on double occupancy, lead in at €2,950 (AU$3,870) per person, or at €19,500 (AU$29,120) or a whole-barge charter.
The introduction of the new 2018/19 European Waterways’ brochure is complemented by the launch of a newly-designed website www.europeanwaterways.com
Accommodating from 6-20 passengers, each fully-crewed hotel barge offers discerning travellers the chance to embark on journeys of discovery along some of Europe’s most beautiful inland waterways, while enjoying first-class service and like-minded congenial company.
Groups of friends, or multi-generational families can also charter any of the hotel barges exclusively for a special celebration. European Waterways’ wide selection of themed charter cruises can be arranged, appealing to special interest groups, whether golf, wine appreciation, walking, or tandem barge cruises for larger groups.
