VIKING CRUISE LINE HAS ANNOUNCED THAT IT WILL
christen its second state-of-the-art “green”
ship, Viking Prestige, in Amsterdam on 30
June this year.
Overseeing proceedings will be Prestige’s
Godmother, Janice Farrar Titus, the wife of
the late cruise industry innovator and
founder of Royal Viking Line and Seabourn
Cruises, Warren Titus.
“Viking Prestige will mark the first ship in
our fleet expansion program which will see
four Viking Longships in 2012 followed by
another three each in 2013 and 2014, for a
total of ten new ships in three years,” said
Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking.
In terms of her “green” credentials the
188-passenger Prestige will mirror her sister,
Viking Legend’s hybrid propulsion system
meaning she will use significantly less fuel
and will feature less vibration than some of
her cruising counterparts.
In terms of style, she will feature Viking’s
signature décor, with public areas set to include
a single-seating restaurant, observation
lounge and bar, library and sun deck.
Following her christening Prestige will
depart on a 15-day Grand European Tour
before hosting guests on a series of eightday
Romantic Danube itineraries
