THE Aurora Expeditions team donned some gloves and picked up some buckets and bags to “Clean Up for Sarah” yesterday.
The team gave up its lunch hour to collect trash around Aurora’s Sydney neighbourhood, gathering more than 11 kilograms of trash in 40 minutes, in just a three-block radius of its Surry Hills office.
The Clean Up for Sarah initiative is now in its fifth year, and honours “global eco-warrior” Sarah Auffret each 14 Jun, which would have been her birthday.
Auffret died aboard Ethiopian Airlines flight 302, which crashed six minutes after takeoff on 10 Mar 2019.
She was a polar guide, expedition leader, and Antarctic Base leader, who was on her way to a Clean Seas project with the UN Environment Assembly.
