It’s set to be one of the cruise holiday highlights of 2015: a month-long fly-cruise centred on a fabulous transatlantic ocean voyage from the USA to Britain and around Europe, Scandinavia and the Baltic on Brilliance of the Seas.
Named ‘Blackjack to Baltic’, this new offering from Worldwide Cruise Centres (worldwidecruisecentres.com.au) includes hotel stays in Las Vegas and London – plus return flights from Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne or Adelaide to Tampa, Florida, via Las Vegas and back to Australia from London.
The holiday is available until 20 December 2014 (or until sold out) from A$6669 twin share per person. As it lasts 32 nights, that equates to less than A$209 a night – remarkable for a holiday that includes so much.
From Perth, the total holiday price costs about A$135 per person more than the rates from Australia’s east coast.
Making the price even better are two onboard bonuses. A bonus US$75 in onboard credit applies per twin cabin on the first 14 nights of the cruise and an additional US$75 onboad credit applies to the second 12 nights of the cruise.
‘Blackjack to Baltic’ starts on 30 April 2015 with a flight from Australia to Las Vegas, where you’ll be transferred to the lavish four-star Monte Carlo Resort Las Vegas, right on the famous Vegas Strip. This vast MGM Resorts International playground will be your home for the next three nights. Relish the full Vegas experience, complete with 1400 slot machines, 60 table games and 15 poker tables. The sensational Blue Man Group is just one attraction here, with electrifying music and innovative new ways of interacting with the audience.
After that, jet down to Tampa, Florida for a night in local hotel, then head to the port to board Brilliance of the Seas.
Brilliance of the Seas is appropriately opulent. You’ll get to know this magnificent ship over 26 nights as you enjoy two back-to-back 14 and 12-night sailings from Tampa to Harwich (for London).
Adding to the value, all onboard meals (except speciality restaurants) are included – and so is most entertainment. Another plus: shipboard tips are included in the price, so you can forget about those.
A nine-story glass-constructed Centrum, state-of-the-art technology, a rock-climbing wall, themed bars and lounges, the Casino Royale, an Indian Raj-themed Solarium and a day spa and fitness centre – all are aboard. Perhaps sip a gin-and-tonic in the Colony Club, a British colonial-style lounge. If you fancy a game of pool here, don’t worry about the tables moving with the boat – they are self-levelling.
An afternoon in historic Norfolk, set on Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay, is followed by a transatlantic crossing and arrival in Cork, Ireland, known for the Blarney Stone and a fine selection of tweeds. You’ll then visit Cherbourg in France and the coastal city of Zebrugge in Belgium, gateway to Bruges, a city that looks like the backdrop for a fairy tale. The cruise visits the English coastal town of Harwich and wonderful Copenhagen in Denmark – perhaps Princess Mary will be at home in the palace.
Next, the Estonian capital of Tallinn, with preserved medieval walls, cobbled squares and towers. An overnight aboard ship in St Petersburg, Russia’s great imperial city, lets you explore some of the world’s finest art galleries. Onward to Finland’s Helsinki for a day, with the following day in Stockholm, Sweden. Now a special treat – Visby, located on an island halfway between Sweden and Latvia. It’s arguably the best-preserved medieval city in Scandinavia and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
A couple of days at sea now to enjoy the ship before docking for disembarkation in Harwich, England.
Your holiday rounds off in style in London, with two nights accommodation at a four-star hotel, including breakfast. You’ll be there at the perfect time, the end of May, just before English spring turns into summer. Shop in Harrods, cross the Thames on the Millennium Footbridge to explore the Tate Gallery, wander Hampstead Heath and sip an English ale nearby. Britain’s capital is yours! It’s the perfect way to end your holiday before flying back to Australia.
