CDU, the peak cruise industry body in Australia, awarded honorary life membership to Glenn Stephens at the recent conference, held in Perth.
This is only the second life membership CDU has bestowed to a member and there is no one worthier of this honour than Glenn, who was nominated by the Port of Melbourne Corporation and unanimously endorsed by the CDU Management Committee.
Glenn was a founding member of CDU in 1997 and was elected to the Treasurer’s position in 1998, a position he continued to hold until he stood down in 2013.
Glenn’s CPA skills provided great direction for the association, that started its years with little income. He implemented a sound financial management regime and provided the Management Committee with thorough and detailed financial reports and played a large part in steering the organisation’s finances into the solid position they are today.
Glenn also represented his home state of Western Australia and was for many years the driving force behind cruise ship development in the west. Glenn pushed WA as a cruise destination at every opportunity and encouraged regional ports and destinations to embrace the opportunities.
Glenn was a strong mentor for new Management Committee Members and will continue to be an advocate for Cruise Down Under.
