Australia will welcome Celebrity Century for the last time this Friday 10th of October. Arriving after an epic 23-night Trans Pacific voyage from San Francisco, the 1,800-guest Celebrity Century will offer 11 cruises during her three month local season before repositioning to Singapore and completing 19 years of service as part of the Celebrity Cruises’ fleet.
“Celebrity Century was a hit with Australian cruisers when she sailed here in the 2011-12 season, so we were thrilled to welcome her back Down Under before she retires from the fleet,” said Sean Treacy, commercial director, Celebrity Cruises Australia. “This historic season will also see two Celebrity ships sailing our waters for the first time – the younger modern luxury Celebrity Solstice arrives on 23rd October for her third local season.”
Since her inaugural sailing in 1995, Celebrity Century has delighted hundreds of thousands of guests with her expansive and beautifully-designed spaces, indulgent premium spa and award-winning dining experiences. Celebrity Century was the first ship to have the now hugely popular Martini Ice Bar and the award-winning specialty restaurant Murano.
“It’s been a few years since we were in Australia, and the crew and I are looking forward to another stellar season as we love having the fun, friendly Australian guests onboard,” said Celebrity Century’s Captain Theodoros Zakkas. “We have been visiting some of our most popular ports around the world before here. And we are so glad that we will get to see Australia, which has some of the most beautiful ports in the world, as part of our farewell tour.”
Celebrity Century’s three-month Australian season will feature 11 sailings, ranging from seven to 23 nights in duration, including the cruise line’s first ever sailing to combine Tropical Queensland with the South Pacific islands, and brand new Australian itineraries such as an eight-night South Australian cruise. Celebrity Century will leave Sydney on a 14-night cruise to Singapore on 11th January 2015, where she will then operate a new Southeast Asia program until April 2015.
