COSTA CRUISES HAS ANNOUNCED ITS TENTH SHIP
order in as many years, to be built by the
Italian shipyard, Fincantieri.
Set for delivery in October 2014, the new
vessel will be the largest in the cruise line’s
fleet and will feature a gross tonnage of
132,500, as well as capacity for 4,928
guests in 1,854 cabins.
The all-in cost of the new fleet addition is
estimated at €150,000 per lower berth.
“This innovative project will once again be
a symbol of Italy’s quintessential ability to
create excellent products, in terms of design,
technology and innovation, aimed at
strengthening the best image of Made in
Italy products around the world,” said Pier
Luigi Foschi, Chairman and CEO of Costa
Crociere.
“While this new order will not lead to a
significant increase in Costa Cruises’
capacity it is part of a plan that will make
the fleet more efficient,” he added.
The order is part of a fleet renewal
program within Costa which will include the
retirement of Costa Marina later this year.
