COSTA CRUISES’ COSTA ATLANTICA HAS SCORED 100%
in a recent inspection by the US Centres for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), whilst
she was in the Port of Miami last month.
The (unannounced) inspection was part of
the US Vessel Sanitisation Program which is
mandatory for vessels in US waters and sees
vessels scored from 1 – 100 on the basis of a
48 point checklist encompassing hygiene and
sanitation of food (from storage to
preparation), water, shipboard personnel and
the vessel as a whole.
Costa Cruises is not unfamiliar with top
points scoring, having clocked 100% marks
from the CDC in 2001, 2005, 2009 and
2010 for Costa Atlantica and in 2004, 2005
and 2006 for Costa Mediterranea.
