How long have you been
working on cruise ships?
I started working on cruise
ships in 2005 when I joined
Classic International Cruises
and since then I have enjoyed
three seasons in Australia.
What does your job entail?
I oversee a staff of 22, whose job it is to
entertain passengers. We keep passengers
happy with sexy French cabaret shows,
complete with feathers and sequins, as well
as lots of games and activities around the ship.
What is the best thing about your job?
It’s a busy job but a very enjoyable and
rewarding one. On a smaller ship like
Athena, there’s a genuinely friendly
atmosphere which helps passengers feel
part of the Athena family. And we all love
Australian passengers because they are
outgoing and participate in lots of activities.
The worst thing about your job?
Being away from my family in Europe and I
also really miss my dog when I’m at sea.
Strangest comment from a passenger?
One male passenger was wondering if he
could organise a private cabaret dance show
in his cabin and the answer was definitely no!
Can you describe life onboard Athena?
As a smaller ship, with just 500 passengers,
Athena has a very friendly and relaxed
atmosphere onboard so we get to know
passengers by their names and everyone,
including the crew, feels they are home
away from home. We aim to make all
passengers feel special.
