Project EDGE to offer “small ship itineraries with large ship amenities”.
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd brand Celebrity Cruises has just announced the signing of a letter of intent with French shipyard STX France for two new cruise liners.
Aiming to build on the existing Milennium and Solstice classes, the two ships in “Project EDGE” will be 117,000GRT in size and offer capacity for 2,900 guests each.
The ships, both un-named at present, will be just short of 300 metres in length and subject to financing, are tentatively slated for delivery in Q3 2018 with the second around 18 months later in early 2020.
Both will be built to incorporate the latest developments in environmentally friendly design including fuel efficiency technology and use of sustainable materials.
“Our new class of ship will set the standard for premium world travel and deliver the next generation of modern luxury experiences that our guests know and love,” Celebrity Cruises ceo Michael Bayley said.
“On this stunning new ship we will bring our guests even closer to the must-see destinations of the world, while indulging them onboard in the most luxurious accommodations, the finest culinary experiences, and the best hospitality delivered by our dedicated staff.”
