Aurora Expeditions provides “clarity and commitment”.
Aurora Expeditions has just announced the postponement of the start of its potential spring and summer 2021 sailing season from Australia “until there is greater clarity on travel start dates”.
CEO Monique Ponfoort said the cruise line had been working closely with State and Federal Governments to bring the Greg Mortimer into local waters. “We continue to receive positive support for this and we thank each government for its constructive engagement,” she said.
While the cruise line is still working to finalise staff and quarantine arrangements, it “remains unable to give clarity to passengers on departure voyage dates…as a consequence we feel it is best to postpone the current itinerary of voyages until that certainty is achieved,” Ponfoort added.
She reiterated that the move was “a postponement, not a cancellation,” with impacted guests able to get a full refund or apply their deposit towards another voyage.
Aurora also remains committed to operating a full Antarctic Peninsula program starting in November this year, the Aurora CEO concluded.
