The line is on the hunt for a head of sales for Australia.
Virgin Voyages’ senior VP of growth Stephen Hopkins revealed today at an exclusive media event that the cruise line is making a return to Australia and “doubling down” on resources.
The new recruit will be joined by BDM Pamela Nielsen, who joined the line from Travel the World recently. Both will be supported by Matt Lebbern, director of sales of Europe and new markets, including Australasia.
Hopkins also shared that the cruise line is committed to reinvesting in the Australian market and resolving the technical issues that the trade experienced in recent years.
“We recognise that…we have been [difficult] with some of the things that we put travel agents through to make bookings and do business with us,” Hopkins admitted.
“We’re sorting all that out. We’re fixing some of the technical limitations that we’ve had around payments and commission – all of that’s going to be resolved into the next quarter.”
Virgin Voyages pulled its hardware out of Australia two years ago due to challenges with navigating the Red Sea.
