THE Port of Darwin has celebrated the
beginning of its summer cruise period, saying
with its 2012-13 line up of 63 port bookings it
is expecting “bumper season”.
Darwin’s season kicked-off last week with a
visit from Radiance of the Seas, which sailed
carrying 2,100 passengers and 900 crew.
“Operators of organised tours, food and
beverage outlets, retailers, taxis and many
other businesses will benefit from spending by
passengers and crew,” said Darwin’s Minister
for Business Peter Chandler.
“For the first time several ships will stay
overnight .
“On Boxing Day two ships will be in port on
the day,” Chandler added.
