With travel industry surveys reporting on the growing popularity of solo travel, European Waterways has announced that it is waiving its single supplement fee on a variety of hotel barge cruises throughout France, Holland and Italy for bookings made by February 19, 2018.
“The new generation of travellers don’t hesitate to ‘go it alone’,” said Derek Banks, Managing Director of European Waterways. “On a hotel barge cruise, our solo guests will meet like-minded people who share their love of cuisine, history and culture. They do so in a warm and sophisticated environment, with an attentive crew that caters to their every need.”
Banks also noted that onboard activities and daily excursions are specifically designed to include every member of their small groups. Wine tasting excursions, visits to local markets, castle tours, and gentle walks through charming towns spark stimulating discussions about history, culture and gastronomic traditions. At the evening meals, everyone sits around the same table ‘digesting’ the events of the day. Conversations are lively and memorable, and often continue long into the night. Many cruises end with guests exchanging contact information and becoming lifelong friends.
The single supplement waiver applies to a wide range of cruises all with their own unique excursions, culinary specialties, regional wine tastings, and experiential activities. In France, eligible departure dates include April 1 on Anjodi, which cruises the Canal du Midi; April 8 and 29 on L’Art de Vivre in Burgundy; April 15 on Renaissance, which cruises the Upper Loire; April 22 on L’Impressionniste, and May 20 on La Belle Epoque, cruising Burgundy. Other eligible dates include April 1 and May 6 on Panache in Holland during the famed tulip season, and May 6 on La Bella Vita in Italy.
Single supplement waivers represent a saving of up to €2,050 (AU$3,150), based on availability, and cannot be combined with other offers. Cruises must be booked by February 19, 2018 to qualify and other restrictions may apply.
