| Evergreen’s Emerald Liberté sets sail on inaugural Rhône and Saône river cruise

Evergreen’s first ever river cruise ship in France, Emerald Liberté, welcomed her first guests to the Rhône and Saône Rivers on Saturday 8 April, 2017.

Emerald Liberté is the fifth vessel in the Emerald ‘Star Ship’ fleet which is known for its clean lines, contemporary style, and innovations like the pool area which turns into a cinema at night, and drop-down glass balcony windows in all Suites.

A boutique-style ship with just 138 guests (versus 182 guests on Emerald ‘Star Ships’ cruising on the Rhine and Danube Rivers), Emerald Liberté offers an eight-day itinerary from April to October.

Liberté sails between Lyon and Arles on the Rhône and Saône Rivers, passing through Chalon-Sur-Saône, then Tournon and Avignon where guests are treated to an on-board, Provençal-style highlight dinner by acclaimed local chef and Top Chef France finalist, Fabien Morreale.

Chef Morreale hails from Martigues, near Marseille where he owns two restaurants: La Garage and Le Gusto Caffé. A top four finalist on Top Chef France, he is dedicated to cooking with the freshest local Provençal and Mediterranean ingredients, employing hints of Asian influences as well. “Cooking with my grandmother is the basis of everything I know about food and it’s where I developed my palate. Guests on board will enjoy discovering the variety of products from the Valley of Les Baux-de-Provence used to create original dishes,” says Morreale.
