SYDNEYSIDERS are being invited to get lost in
a sea of myths, legendary voyages and heroic
efforts undertaken to map the last continent
on earth, Antarctica, at the State Library of
NSW (Macquarie Street, Sydney).
Held in celebration of the centenary of Sir
Douglas Mawson Antarctic voyage, the
exhibition is free of charge and will focus on
the mapping of Antarctica from the 15th to
the 21st century, showcasing a rare collection
maps and charts, as well as published accounts
and original sketches from Antarctica
exploration by Cook, d’Urville, the United
State Exploring Expeditions and the
Australasian Antarctic Expedition.
