Grand Princess has returned to
service after undergoing the most
extensive drydock overhaul in
Princess Cruises’ history.
The 24-day drydock took place
in the Bahamas and transformed
Grand Princess from top to bottom,
including the removal of her
Skywalkers nightclub; new eateries
Alfredo’s Pizzeria and the Crown
Grill; a specialty tea lounge called
Leaves; seven new window suites;
art gallery; enhancements to the Horizon Court, Lotus Spa, and wedding chapel; the
addition of Crooner’s Martini Lounge and a new nightclub One5, (opening 21 May); and
updated decor.
“This drydock has been a monumental effort, and we’re very proud of the teamwork by
everyone involved to create this sparkling ‘new’ ship ready to start a season of Europe
sailings,” said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises executive vice president.
“We know our passengers will appreciate the updated décor, fresh new feel, and
especially all the wonderful added features.”
Following her drydock, Grand Princess set sail on a 16-day British Isles Passage voyage
to her summer homeport of Southampton, from where she will sail a season of European
itineraries, including Mediterranean voyages and a number of shorter “Interlude” voyages.
