One bride, one groom and a wedding
party of ten graced the decks of Pacific Jewel
in Sydney last month, in an milestone event
which marked P&O Cruises very first
onboard wedding ceremony.
Performed at port in Sydney, the wedding
was followed up a few short hours later by a
spectacular sail-away party and a 10-night
honeymoon cruise onboard Jewel for the
South Australian newlyweds Sue Marcelis
and Gary Graham, as well as their entire
wedding party!
Keeping it in the family, the wedding was
organised by Gary’s sister, a travel agent at
Flight Centre, who suggested the venue after
learning about P&O’s new Ceremonies at
Sea program, which launched late last year.
“We announced our engagement to our
family when we visited her one afternoon
and by the time we left her house the whole
thing was organised,” said Sue.
“Everything was done and we didn’t have
to worry beforehand.
“Then on the big day the venue was beautiful
and it all went very smoothly,” she added.
Although it may have been the first
wedding onboard, Sue and Garry’s big day
is not the last time a bride will walk down
the deck for her nuptials, with P&O
reporting that so far 30 couples have
already signed up to cement their relationship
in marriage in venues across its four vessels,
whilst more than 50 have booked in for
recommitment ceremonies.
