Australians have the chance to
name the new waterslide on
Carnival Spirit and win a cruise
in the US.
THE world’s largest cruise line has launched a
competition to help “Aussify” Carnival Spirit
before it is arrives in Sydney next October.
As this is the first time that Carnival Cruise
Lines (CCL) has based a ship outside US waters,
the company wants a local to name the “thrill
slide” to be installed on Spirit in January.
The slide is set to be the fastest and steepest
at sea, and the first of its kind on an
Australian-based ship.
“Right now, the slide doesn’t have a name, so
Carnival needs Australia to give her a great one
that brings the sheer excitement of the thrill
slide to life,” said CCL director Jennifer
Vandekreeke.
“It’s 56 metres of heart-pounding excitement
that begins when you step into the slide.
“Seconds later, the floor will drop and you’ll
fall down a 10-metre drop that is almost
vertical, and once you’ve picked up enough
speed, you’ll be rocketed out the side of the
ship and loop around just in time to splash
down and catch your breath,” she said.
Australians can enter their name suggestions
on the Carnival Spirit Facebook page for the
chance to win a trip to the US and be one of
the first passengers to go down the new slide.
The winning name will be selected next
month and announced in Cruise Weekly.
