One of the biggest wet seasons in the Kimberley in a hundred years has created thundering waterfalls off the rugged escarpment and low-cost cruise operator in the region, Ahoy Buccaneers, has places available on three sailings this March and April to witness the spectacle.
Ahoy Buccaneer’s 25-guest motor yacht, ‘Oceanic’, will offer 13-day adventure cruises one-way between Broome and Wyndham on March 27, April 10 and April 24, 2017.
An extreme, monsoonal wet over summer has transformed famous Kimberley coast waterfalls like King George Falls, Kings Cascades and Casuarina Falls into spectacular, thundering jets of water, creating a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience for visitors keen to see and feel nature at its raw and powerful best.
The twice-in-a-century downpour saw Broome receive a record 410mm of rain last December – 47 per cent more than the previous record in 1970 and seven times the normal rainfall of 58mm.
Ahoy Buccaneer’s last wet season expeditions through the wild and remote islands of the Buccaneer and Bonaparte archipelagos will enable guests to experience the dramatic excitement of tropical, monsoon storms, beautiful sunsets and lightning shows, gushing waterfalls and lush scenery.
Ahoy Buccaneers offers travellers one of the most affordable ways to see the wild and unspoilt Kimberley. The company’s vessel, ‘Oceanic’, offers double bed and bunk cabins as well as the opportunity for passengers to sleep under the stars in deluxe swags in a mix of boat and beach locations each night. The 24m rigged vessel also boasts indoor and outdoor dining areas, two lounges and a deck spa. Fresh and healthy cuisine is prepared by an onboard cook who regularly sources much of the menu from what is caught from the sea each day. The atmosphere onboard Oceanic is barefoot casual and friendly, with guests encouraged to help fish or sail the Oceanic.
The itineraries on March 27 and April 24 start in Broome and end in Wyndham while the April 10 cruise operates in reverse. The last places on the 13-day cruises are available from $4000 per person – including for guests travelling solo – for a swag on the beach under the stars each night.
Fares include meals during the cruise and daily excursions as well as local transfers. Call Ahoy Buccaneers on 08 9193 7650 or visit www.ahoybuccaneers.com.au
