P&O CRUISES will decorate its Pacific Sun with
two massive Aussie flags, when she takes part
in Australia Day celebrations in Sydney on Thu.
Pacific Sun will sail into the harbour at about
6am with 199 passengers on board, and will
moor in a prime position for the party.
The two giant flags – each measuring a
whopping 44m x 22m – will be unfurled on
each side from around 7am.
Carnival Australia ceo Ann Sherry said the
event would help launch the ‘Sydney Festival
of Cruising’ which will take place throughout
February as the harbour city welcomes a
record number of cruise ship visits.
“It’s a reminder of the importance of cruise
ships to the local economy with combined
spending in Sydney by passengers, crew and
cruise ship operators of $400 million in 2010-
2011 alone,” she said.
