POLAR Latitudes Expeditions has welcomed Discoverer to its fleet, formerly known as Exploris One.
The ship is currently sailing for French line Exploris, and will next year also sail for New Zealand-based Heritage Expeditions as Heritage Discoverer (CW 26 Feb).
She formerly belonged to Silversea, sailing as Silver Explorer from 2011-2023.
Discoverer will join Polar Latitudes’ Antarctic program beginning with the 2026/27 season, replacing the chartered Seaventure, which will transition to full operation by Chinese interests.
Discoverer will replace Seaventure on all of her scheduled departures under Polar Latitudes, with booked guests to be accommodated on board the new ship in the same stateroom category originally reserved.
The ship’s arrival also expands Polar Latitudes’ 2026/27 Antarctic departure schedule, which will now include additional ‘Crossing the Antarctic Circle’ voyages in Dec, and a first-ever itinerary in Chilean Patagonia, launching in Mar 2027.
“By replacing a chartered with an owned vessel, we again underline our vision, having superior control of our expedition product and therefore also creating the best potential expedition experience for our customers,” chief commercial officer Anders Kristensen said.
