LUCKY escape for man overboard.
An un-named man has been plucked from
the arms of the Atlantic Ocean by crew
members onboard P&O Cruises’ Ventura,
after unwittingly going overboard during a
cruise of a lifetime around the Caribbean
islands.
According to passenger reports the
incident occurred at around 5.30am, with
guests awoken by a lurch in the ship’s
movements, followed by blaring search
lights, horns blowing and the call “Man
overboard! Man overboard!”.
‘It has all been very dramatic,” said
passenger Julie Lourens.
“Life rings were thrown out and three
lifeboats went to the area, but it was
passengers that spotted him.
“It was pitch black…This guy is so, so
lucky,” she added.
Reports trickling across the internet confirm
that the man, thought to be aged between
30 and 50 is in a stable condition and is
being treated in the ship’s medical centre.
