IMAGINE this…you’re on a cruise ship in
the middle of the ocean, surrounded left
and right…by lawyers.
Well, unless you’re also a lawyer, you need
not worry as you won’t be there, but the
world’s largest law firm – in terms of revenue
and the number of lawyers on the books –
DLA Piper – will soon create exactly that.
The company has chartered Royal
Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas for a private
sailing from Barcelona to Nice for its four-night
partner excursion later this month.
It is expected to cost the company
US$3.1m, not including alcohol, but DLA
Piper said the prospect was much more
appealing than “hunkering down in a
Marriott conference room for the weekend”.
Meetings, focus groups and social events
will be held over the duration of the cruise,
which is also aimed at building business
relationships.
