The world’s largest gay cruise,
onboard the 5,400-passenger
Allure of the Seas, has almost
sold out.
All the top-level suites have been booked,
including the $22,000 royal loft suite, and only
a few interior and balcony cabins remain
available for the “largest and most extravagant
gay cruise in history onboard the biggest cruise
ship ever built”.
American travel company Atlantis Events has
chartered Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas
for a week-long tour of the Caribbean,
departing Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on 29
January 2012, with ports of call in Haiti and
Mexico.
The company is working closely with Royal
Caribbean to redesign the ship’s public spaces
to create five dance venues, including a
dancefloor covering the main pool, with an
elaborate system of lighting, lasers and video
technology.
DJs will be flown in from Miami, Los Angeles
and London to play a range of music styles,
and parties will have a special theme every
night.
New menus are also to be introduced in
some of the ship’s restaurants.
The record-breaking cruise follows Atlantis
Events’ successful charter of Allure last year,
with improvements in 2012 to include triple
the number of lights in the solarium dance
area, more intimate social activities and a day
excursion to Labadee, the cruise line’s private
beach.
“Our second year on a new class of ship is
always our best,” the organisers said.
Theatre entertainment, such as productions
of ‘Chicago’, remains the same as regular Allure
of the Seas sailings.
Prices for available cabins start at US$1,199
twin-share, and a roommate-matching
program is available for singles seeking to
share.
