Princess Cruises’ Sea Princess arrived in Brisbane this morning flaunting new opulence in bedding, entertainment and dining following a 16-day refurbishment in Singapore. The latest ship in the Princess fleet to be based in Brisbane, Sea Princess will make 12 roundtrip cruises to New Zealand and Queensland over the 2017/18 summer cruise season.
Carrying 3,000 guests and crew (more people than the QLD town of Longreach), the 77,000 ton liner will inject close to $27million to the Queensland economy in passenger and crew spending, prevdoring, and port charges.
Princess Cruises Vice President Australia and New Zealand Stuart Allison said:
“Fresh from refurbishment, Sea Princess is a ship that Brisbane can be proud to call its own over the Australian summer.”
“Queenslanders have a true affection for cruise holidays, with guests from the state attracting our highest repeat-cruiser rate than any other state in Australia. Aboard the reimagined Sea Princess, among other itineraries, Brisbane guests will be able to embark on voyages to New Zealand’s stunning Fiordland National Park, which was recently revealed as Princess Guests’ favourite destination in the Pacific, right from their doorstep.”
Among the most anticipated additions made to Sea Princess, every cabin has now been fitted with a Princess Luxury Bed. Developed exclusively for Princess by US sleep expert Dr Michael Breus, the mattress, featuring individually wrapped coils and two-inch pillow topper, has been designed specifically to deliver the most comfortable and rejuvenating sleep at sea.
Moving the milestone in on-board entertainment, Sea Princess has re-emerged with a grand, new, Movies under the Stars Screen. Guests can now enjoy premium picture, with extreme wide-angel and advanced outdoor light sensors delivering double the image quality of the previous system.
In the Princess Theatre, the spellbinding musical Encore makes its sea stage debut, enticing a sophisticated evening of music and glamour. Directed and choreographed by world-renown creative director Danny Teeson, Encore celebrates the traditions of pop, opera, and musical theatre with fresh songs, elaborate costumes and stunning sets.
In another Sea Princess first, The Voice of the Ocean offers an unprecedented interactive in-show experience. Inspired by the highest-ranked TV show in the world, the show features live performances, professional mentors, blind auditions, charismatic judges and the iconic rotating chairs.
For younger cruisers, Sea Princess now boasts three reimagined youth centres. In partnership with Discovery Channel, the centres are designed specifically for kids and teens as part Princess’ Discovery at Sea program.
Sea Princess’ enhancement also sees a new Osteria Corniche menu at Café Corniche restaurant which reflects classic Italian flavours. In addition, The Wheelhouse Bar will sport a revised cocktail menu, inspired by the romance of the Prohibition era.
Fares for a 7-night cruise through Queensland and The Great Barrier Reef on Sea Princess departing Brisbane on February 4, 2018 start from $949 per person twin share* with a $100 shore excursion credit per stateroom when you book a Balcony or above.
