A record number of Aussies
celebrated a birthday cruise
to the Black Sea last week.
AUSTRALIANS MADE UP MORE THAN HALF THE
passengers onboard Sea Cloud Cruises’ river
vessel, the River Cloud II, as it
commemorated a decade of service in
Europe.
The group, which disembarked in
Romania on Sunday, included 22
pharmacists and partners on a postconference
trip and a Melbourne woman
who booked three back-to-back cruises from
Amsterdam to Bucharest in order to
complete the full length of the Danube.
Bookings from Australians are growing for
the German line, which also operates two
windjammers: Sea Cloud, celebrating its
80th birthday this month, and Sea Cloud II,
also marking 10 years in 2011.
“The Australian market is quite new for
us; however, we consider it as very important
River Cloud II marks a milestone
and are interested in attracting more and
more Australian guests over the coming
years,” a company spokesperson told Cruise
Weekly.
“We are offering a very personalised and
upmarket service, but the atmosphere
onboard our ships is very relaxed.”
To celebrate its birthday, River Cloud II is
offering special deals for families, no single
supplement, and a 400 Euro discount (on
selected voyages) for people whose birthday
falls between May and August.
Fares start at €1,955 per person in a
double cabin and €2,265 for a single cabin,
including wine and beer with lunch and
dinner, non-alcoholic drinks throughout the
cruise and two cocktail functions.
“We are interested in attracting
more and more Australian
guests over the coming years”
