More than 40 Sydney students and their teachers celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday in style today with a special visit to Carnival Spirit while it was docked at Circular Quay.
To mark the 112th birthday of popular children’s author Theodor Seuss Geisel, Carnival Cruise Line invited students from Plunkett Street Public in Woolloomooloo and Fort Street Public School in Millers Point onboard the 88,500-tonne ship for a Seuss-a-Palooza parade and book reading.
As part of an exclusive partnership with Dr. Seuss, Carnival Cruise Line offers Seuss at Sea across its 25 ships with the magic of Dr. Seuss’ timeless books brought to life at a Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast with the Cat in the Hat and Friends, special showings of beloved movies such as “The Cat in the Hat” and the Seuss-a-Palooza Character Parade where guests join Dr. Seuss characters in a conga line along the Promenade before watching a Dr.Seuss show in the theatre.
The students, aged 5-7, met some of Dr. Seuss’ most famous characters including Cat in the Hat, Thing 1, Thing 2 and Sam I Am and enjoyed a special book reading with Cat in the Hat.
In encouraging the children to have fun reading, Carnival Cruise Line Vice President Australia Jennifer Vandekreeke quoted the birthday boy: “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
Before disembarking, the group enjoyed a burger from the ship’s top deck Guy’s Burger Joint.
