British holidaymakers appear to be steering away from cruising as a holiday option, with the number of pax sailing falling for the first time in a decade.
According to new industry stats released last week, the full year in 2014 saw overall numbers drop from 1.72m in 2013 to 1.64m, a fall of 4.8% year-on-year.
The result sees Germany pass England as the leading European nation to take a holiday at sea.
Tourism officials have cited worries such as the Ebola crisis, the declining British pound and one-off events such as the Costa Concordia capsizing as events impacting momentum in Britain.
