DISCUSSIONS between the shipbuilder STX
France and Viking River Cruises over the
latter’s plans to construct two 41,000-ton
ocean vessels have ended, following Viking’s
withdrawal from negotiations.
The plans were tentatively announced late
last year, with the pair saying that the
agreement was “subject to negotiation”.
At the time of print Viking had not yet
responded to CW’s questions, and as such it is
not known if the ocean ship program will be
scrapped or continued with another shipbuilder.
