PONANT has unveiled its Women of the Poles initiative, led by French think tank Le Cercle Polaire.
Women of the Poles pays tribute to polar adventurers from all over the world, with the launch seeing Australian extreme endurance cyclist Kate Leeming, together with French mountaineer Laurence de la Ferriere and Finnish photographer Tiina Itkonen, talk about their exploits and vision of women’s polar expeditions on board L’Austral, which is currently sailing the Antarctic.
The campaign is a long-term activation, with two other explorers confirmed for L’Austral’s voyage to the Arctic in Aug.
The cruise along Greenland’s west coast will welcome two more women explorers, including Reena Dharmshaktu, the first Indian woman to ski from coast of Antarctica to South Pole.
There will also be a themed exploration on Le Commandant Charcot in Aug 2024, which will expedition between Svalbard and Iceland, with guests speakers to be announced soon.
